How do I wash my cloth menstrual pads?
Simply pre-rinse or soak, then hand or machine wash and dry.
We suggest you soak our pads in cool water for a few hours or overnight if more convenient. For a soaking container anything rustproof that can fit a few pads is best. Large-mouthed glass food storage jars work well. If you use a 2-litre or 1/2 gallon jar it can be discreetly enclosed in our specially designed MoonBag.
Squeeze excess water from pads. This water can be fed to your garden or pot plants, naturally returning nutrients to the earth. Then wash pads by hand or machine cycle with other clothes. Mesh laundry/delicates are great for machine washing. With Wemoon's rich colours and prints pads don’t stain much, but use stain-removing soap if you prefer. Oxygen-based soaps, vinegar or borax are good alternatives to chemical bleaches. Then line or tumble dry.
Some women prefer to wash their cloth pads while in the shower, without pre-soaking. You can then remove excess water in the spin cycle of the washing machine for faster drying.

How do I sanitize my pads?
Regular washing sanitises your cloth pads. You can dip them in diluted tea tree oil, eucalyptus or any mild disinfectant if you wish to. Sunshine is also a natural sanitiser.

Are your pads machine-washable, and if so, at what temperature can they be washed?
We recommend a 'warm' to 'hot' wash, which is anything up to 60°C. You can also wash reliably in cold water if you prefer.

Is machine-washing hygienic?
As long as you have soaked and squeezed the pads before washing, most blood will have been removed, and the machine will do the rest. If you can't hang your pads in the sun to dry (a natural sanitiser), we suggest adding tea tree or eucalyptus oil, or any type of anti-bacterial to your wash for extra surety.

Do Wemoon pads stain?
If you soak or wash your pads immediately after wearing, staining will not be a problem. However, as this is not always possible, and for those days when blood dries before you can wash the pads, we recommend applying some white vinegar, salt, or stain-removing soap, then give a little scrub with some added water before soaking and washing. If you have problems with staining, we highly recommend Ruby Red over other colours!

How long do Wemoon pads take to air dry?
Wemoons dry a lost faster if you spin dry them in the washing machine. Even if you are hand-washing, we suggest you put them into a final spin cycle before hanging them out to dry. They usually dry within 2–3 hours in the sun.

This does seem to be a problem over time, however we have found that putting your pads in the tumble dryer from time to time will make them much softer again. If this can't be done, you could try adding eucalyptus oil to your final rinse. Also, try natural Choices OxyBoost, which softens pads in the wash. (See Women's Links: Natural Laundry Products)
